Network Admin
The primary focus of a Network Admin is to participate in projects that support technology growth and innovation. Network Admins also support and administer internal and customer technology infrastructures and provide advanced technical support including server platforms, storage, network, and other cross-functional capabilities. They work with other Engineers to develop and implement new solutions, improve existing solutions, develop and document procedures, and provide a path of escalation for complex or high-risk IT requests. Additionally, their ability to interact, collaborate, consult, and facilitate initiatives with customers face to face on site is vital.
The Work:
Projects
Drive, track, and complete assigned IT projects
Complete tasks in a timely and quality fashion
Adhere to and develop implementation, quality control, and change control standards
Keep IT management apprised of risks to project success
Innovation
Identify and implement new technology needs
Research technical concepts and educate other team members as needed
Present research / proposed projects to IT management
Participate in technology evaluations
Provide input on application integration, design, security, reliability
Collaboration with other design teams within IT
High aptitude for business understanding and proactive application of technical solutions to business challenges
Support
On site, client facing support for training, troubleshooting, and consulting
Proactively identify, research, and resolve technical problems
Responsibility for managing assigned tickets and time tracking in assigned queues
Provide after hours on-call support
Participate in after-hours maintenance
Keep IT management apprised of critical issues
Provide feedback and recommendations regarding service delivery improvements
Ability to work in a secure datacenter environment (including lifting up to 50 lbs.)
Documentation
Adhere to and develop documentation standards using IT Glue
Lead the creation of quality technical processes and procedures
Ensure documentation is sufficient to yield reproducible results
Identify gaps in existing documentation of the infrastructure and assist with resolution
Assist with policy, security, and compliance documentation efforts
Expertise:
Minimum of an associate’s degree or equivalent experience or technical certifications
3 or more years of proven systems engineering experience with a focus on Windows and industry standard network platforms
Experience with multiple technologies, processes and environments with a proven ability to execute against project plans in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
Experience working with clients on site for support, consulting and training.
Subject matter competency with
Labtech and related RMM utilities
IP Phone platforms (Avaya, Allworx, Cisco)
Virtualization platforms (Hyper-V)
Cisco switches and routers
Mikrotik switches and routers
Knowledge of dynamic routing protocols
BGP
OSPF
Troubleshooting phone and network traces/packet captures and logs
Experience with enterprise wireless platforms (Ubiquiti, Ruckus)
Fortinet firewalls
Connectwise Manage
Office 365 and RDS deployments
Strong desktop troubleshooting skills and instincts
Familiarity with macOS
